Michael Keaton Says Batman Would Kick Everybody's Ass in a Superhero Brawl
In 2014, former Batman Michael Keaton worked with former Hulk Edward Norton on Birdman, which eventually went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture. This year, Keaton worked with current Hulk Mark Ruffalo on Spotlight (my review here), a movie that could easily take home the same prize at the next Academy Awards ceremony.
While making the press rounds and promoting the new film, ABC News Radio asked the two actors which of their superheroic characters would have the upper hand in a fight, and Keaton responded:
"Everyone needs to stop asking the question of who could beat up who. Batman kicks everybody's a**. And if they won't, I will, Bruce Wayne will."
It's tough to parse exactly what Keaton might have meant by that last sentence without hearing the exact delivery in audio form. If people don't stop asking that question, he — Michael Keaton — will kick everybody's ass? He — Michael Keaton, who believes he's actually Bruce Wayne (?) — will? I'm not quite sure how to analyze that. (One thing's for sure: Keaton isn't threatened by any other incarnation of Batman.)
In any case, the part where he says "Batman kicks everybody's ass" is likely going to be what most geeks focus on, and I'm sure it will kick up a new chapter of that age-old debate about which superheroes would win in a fight. Have at it in the comments below, and let us know if you think Keaton's Batman could take down Ruffalo's version of the Hulk in a brawl.
