Naomi Scott Cast as the Pink Ranger in POWER RANGERS Reboot
Earlier this week we learned of eight young actors who were up for the Rangers in Lionsgate’s Power Rangers reboot. One of those actors was Naomi Scott (The Martian), and now we’ve learned that she has officially been cast in the film as Kimberly, a.k.a. The Pink Ranger.
Other actors who are up for parts in the movie include KJ Apa (Shortland Street), Austin Butler (Arrow), and Mitchell Hope (Descendants) for the role of Jason, a.k.a. The Red Ranger, and Daniel Zovatto (It Follows), Ross Butler (Chasing Life), and Brian “Sene” Marc (Major Crimes) in contention for Zack, a.k.a. The Black Ranger.
I haven’t seen enough of Scott’s work to know whether or not she’s a good fit, but I’m sure she’ll be fine.
The film is will be directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) from a script written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class, Thor). It will reimagine the origins of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, who are a group of high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and unite to save the world, with the aid of giant mechanical vehicles known as Zords.
