Rumor: Joss Whedon Will Direct The SUPERGIRL/FLASH Musical Crossover Episode
Take this with a massive grain of salt, but That Hashtag Show is claiming that Joss Whedon will direct the two-part musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl on The CW in the spring of 2017. I'm not familiar with That Hashtag Show and don't know if they have an accurate and proven track record breaking stories like this, so I'm hesitant to believe it until we hear further confirmation from another source. But that being said, I think everyone can agree it would be really cool if this ended up being true.
Whedon obviously has experience directing musical-style episodes of television, famously helming the Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode "Once More, With Feeling," and also dabbling in musical superhero tones with Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog a few years ago. Combine that with his experience behind the camera on the first two Avengers movies, and it seems like a no-brainer that he'd be up for this. But on the other hand, his previous experience could also be the exact reason this rumor has any weight at all; if it turns out to be false, at least people could say it was plausible because of Whedon's history.
The webseries goes on to say that the villain of the episode is going to be the Music Meister, a character voiced by Whedon alum Neil Patrick Harris, and they speculate that NPH may end up playing the character in live action in the crossover as well. Again, that's plausible because of the history, but there's nothing concrete backing it up at this point. It would be cool to see, but we'll have to wait for further confirmation before we fully believe it. Still, we wanted to share this with you in case it ended up being true so you could get a jump start on revving up your excitement for spring of 2017.
