The CW Casts Its Jonah Hex in LEGENDS OF TOMORROW
Last week, we heard that The CW was planning to include the disfigured cowboy character Jonah Hex in their new time traveling superhero series DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the producers have already cast an actor to don the face make-up and cowboy hat. HitFix reports that actor Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do!, Quantico, Quarantine) has been tapped to play the role.
From earlier reports, we knew that the character would make his first appearance in episode eleven of the first season and the writers may end up bringing him back in a recurring capacity, and both of those things are still true today.
Josh Brolin played the character in a 2010 film adaptation that famously bombed at the box office. The CW version of the character will apparently be familiar with the concept of time travel when the Legends first meet up with him, and it'll be interesting to see if fans embrace Schaech's take on the iconic gunslinger more than they did with Brolin's version. The CW describes their Hex like this:
A true legend of the Old West, a morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger. Surprisingly, he knows a thing or two about time travel and the future, but is at home in the Wild West. He’s been battling outlaws and gangs for awhile now, and advises the team to be extra careful when they arrive in the small town of Salvation.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs on Thursdays at 8pm on The CW.
