WONDER WOMAN is Reportedly a BATMAN V SUPERMAN Prequel; Get New Story Details, Villain Info, and More

Movie Wonder Woman by Ben Pearson

(Potential spoilers ahead.)

Gal Gadot's solo Wonder Woman movie is going to have a lot of eyes on it for being the first official comic book superhero film centered on a female character since the disastrous Elektra back in 2005. We know Patty Jenkins is directing the movie from a script by Jason Fuchs (Pan) and it's release date is set for June 23rd, 2017. We know Chris Pine is playing Wonder Woman's love interest Steve Trevor, and the movie will reportedly take place in both modern day and World War I.

Now JoBlo is here with a bunch more rumors to add to the pile, the most interesting of which reveals that the movie actually takes place "a few months before the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and that Batman will be involved in some capacity. The site says the movie will end with Batman approaching Wonder Woman to let her know that he knows she exists, "establishing a relationship that leads to her involvement in BVS."

The site also says their sources confirm the recent report about Ares and Circe being the villains in the film, though they couldn't get confirmation about whether Sean Bean or Eva Green had officially signed on at this point. Here's a bit more info about the villains' appearances:

In addition, expect to see many mythological/mystical creatures scattered throughout (there is even mention of a visit to Olympus, but the context of that is unknown). Ares will employ an army of beasts that are described as red or green demonic monsters with horns and wings that will be sent to kill Wonder Woman at some point in the film to keep her from stopping Circe.
Lastly, although Circe is rooted in sorcery (and is known in mythology to have the power to turn men into beasts), she will also take on the form of a Chimera-like monster during her final battle with Wonder Woman.

As for the split between the World War I era and modern day, the site says not to expect much time spent in WWI:

The very basics of the plot follow Diana/Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor in modern day trying to stop Circe, who is manipulating high-level government men into starting World War III with the help of Ares. At some point she will explain to Trevor about her first battle with Ares during World War I, where she defeated him. Whether or not this is told in flashback or shown early on in the film is unclear, although it’s said that the majority of the film will be set in modern day, so don’t expect an even split between those timelines.

Be sure to read through their full report to get more info, including whether or not the invisible jet will show up (spoiler: it will!) and the look of the villains' costumes. What do you all think about these new details? Do they make you more excited about Wonder Woman?
