WORLD WAR Z 2 Left Without Director Juan Antonio Bayona
The World War Z sequel will need a new helmer as Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible) left the project due to bad timing. Paramount Pictures confirmed that with the following statement to Deadline:
“Because of pre-existing film commitments, Bayona is not able to make World War Z this year, and it is our ambition to do so. He is a wonderful director, and we hope to work with him soon.”
Those “pre-existing” commitments (to his new movie A Monster Calls) obviously became restraints that would prevent the follow-up zombie apocalypse film from meeting the studio's intended release date deadline.
Undeterred, Paramount and Plan B are planning to start filming World War Z 2 this summer. Many will be happy to know that Brad Pitt is returning to play the lead role again.
With the movie scheduled to hit theaters on June 9, 2017, finding a new director becomes priority! Who do you think may take Bayona’s chair?
