A QUIET PLACE: PART III Kicks Off Filming in NYC With First Look at Jack O’Connell
Cameras are officially rolling on A Quiet Place: Part III, and we’ve got our first tease from the set along with a glimpse at Jack O'Connell stepping into this terrifying universe. The new sequel is shifting locations in a big way, and it looks like the franchise is heading straight into the chaos of New York City.
John Krasinski confirmed production has begun, sharing a photo of the film’s slate set up in front of the Manhattan Bridge Arch and Colonnade in Chinatown. After spending the first two films in quieter, rural parts of New York, this story is diving headfirst into a much more dangerous environment.
Then there’s the first look at O’Connell, who appears to be playing a member of the U.S. National Guard, which raises a lot of questions about how organized forces are operating now that humanity has figured out at least one way to fight back.
If you’ve been following the series, you know the timeline already brushed against New York in A Quiet Place: Day One. That film shifted away from the Abbott family and followed new survivors played by Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, showing the immediate fallout of the alien invasion.
But that was the beginning. This new film takes place much later, which means the city we’re returning to could be drastically different… and probably way more dangerous.
The core cast is back, including Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, Millicent Simmonds as Regan, Noah Jupe as Marcus, and Cillian Murphy as Emmett. They’ll be joined by some strong new additions like O’Connell, Jason Clarke, and Katy O'Brian.
A Quiet Place exists in a brutal post-apocalyptic world where blind alien creatures hunt purely by sound. Staying alive means staying silent, and even the smallest mistake can be deadly.
The second film ended with a pretty major development. The survivors discovered a signal that can weaken the creatures, essentially turning the tide in humanity’s favor. That breakthrough is clearly going to play a huge role moving forward, and Krasinski has already teased how that idea expands the scope of the story.
"I'm really excited about the third instalment because it's going to do something that we haven't done before. The ending of the last shot is, now that the world knows about [the signal that the creatures are vulnerable to], what will the world do with this answer, or with this weapon?"
"Will they be responsible with it, or will they not be responsible with it?" he added.
The concept opens the door for something bigger than just survival. Now it’s about how humanity reacts when it finally has a fighting chance.
There’s still no word on whether Krasinski will appear on screen again after his character’s fate in the first film, though he did show up in flashbacks in Part II. Either way, he’s back writing and directing after handing Day One over to Michael Sarnoski.
With the story moving into New York City and expanding its scope, A Quiet Place: Part III feels like it could be the biggest chapter yet.
The film is currently set to hit theaters on July 30, 2027.
