A Sequel to the PREDATOR Film PREY Is Reportedly in the Works at Hulu
It looks like Hulu and director Dan Trachtenberg are finally moving forward with Prey 2, which will continue the story of the historical Predator movie. The sequel was first mentioned as being in development in a listing in this week’s issue of Production Weekly.
It was only a matter of time before a sequel got made, the first Prey movie was great and it definitely set up more of a story to tell. The director previously teased a sequel:
"The nerd in me looked that far ahead, as far as he could look, before we started writing this movie, but the adult in me said, 'Don’t count your chickens and just be careful. Try and make the best movie possible, straight away.’ End-credit sequence aside, there is something refreshing about seeing a movie that is not really intended to be just a part one to something else. There’s something nice about seeing a complete thought. On the complete other hand, I love that what would’ve been a post-credit scene in other movies, is an animated end-title sequence in our movie. Our end titles are still storytelling."
The end title sequence features Native American-style art that shows multiple Predator ships flying down from the sky approaching as the Comanche tribe points up to the sky, so it will be interesting and fun to see if that is the story they tell for the sequel.
It was also teased that the 1715 pistol featured in the movie, which was seen in Predator 2, will be one of the elements in the franchise followed as the story continues, which will be interesting. I‘m excited for Prey 2 and I can’t wait to see the story that Trachtenberg is going to tell!
The first movie follows a young woman named Naru, “a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.”
The film’s cast includes Amber Midthunder (The Ice Road, Roswell, New Mexico), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), and Julian Black Antelope (Tribal).
