Adria Arjona Wonder Woman Rumor Heats Up Again as DCU Batman Report Starts to Unravel
The speculation surrounding the DC Universe just refuses to slow down. While fans are still trying to figure out who will wear the cape and cowl as Batman, another rumor has come roaring back with fresh confidence.
This time, it's all about Adria Arjona and whether she has actually been cast as Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow.
Nothing has been officially confirmed by James Gunn, but the conversation has picked up steam once again thanks to another source claiming that Arjona is indeed playing Diana Prince.
Earlier this year, Arjona, whose recent credits include Andor and Hit Man, landed a major role in Man of Tomorrow after reportedly testing alongside Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten.
At the time, reports indicated the actresses were auditioning for Maxima, the powerful warrior queen from Almerac. Even so, plenty of DC fans weren't buying that explanation and immediately started wondering if Warner Bros. and DC Studios were simply protecting the identity of the new Wonder Woman.
That theory has only gained more attention. YouTuber Yara Wayne recently claimed she knows exactly who Arjona is playing. While making it clear she isn't someone who regularly leaks industry information, she explained why she's confident.
"I'm not a scooper, but I know the Adria thing because of a friend... I got lucky with a person near the process that I know."
Several others have since echoed Wayne's claim, although it's still far from official confirmation. But, if I were to bet on it, I’d bet on her playing Wonder Woman. Until Gunn or DC Studios make an announcement, it remains another rumor in the ever-growing pile of DC speculation.
Arjona has been one of the most popular fan choices for Wonder Woman for quite some time, so the casting would make a lot of fans very happy. At the same time, it does raise an interesting question. If she really is the new Diana Prince, why keep it a secret?
Revealing such a high-profile casting would instantly get people talking about Man of Tomorrow and generate even more excitement for the future of the DCU. Of course, Gunn may simply prefer to save the surprise for when the time is right.
Meanwhile, another major DC rumor has started to lose some of its momentum. YouTuber John Campea reported that "multiple, well-placed sources" had told him the identity of the actor set to play Batman in the DCU. The report spread quickly across the internet, with many outlets covering the claim.
Now, however, Campea appears to be walking parts of it back. It's a familiar situation. Large YouTube personalities and insiders sometimes express frustration when their comments are picked up by entertainment sites, but this wasn't an offhand remark made in passing.
Campea specifically stated that "multiple, well-placed sources" had given him the same information regarding Batman's casting.
He has since announced a follow-up show to address the situation, so it'll be interesting to see exactly how much confidence remains in that original report.
As for Man of Tomorrow, the film is shaping up to be one of DC Studios' biggest projects. The sequel will see David Corenswet return as Superman, with Nicholas Hoult back as Lex Luthor. Rather than remaining enemies, the two characters will be forced to put aside their rivalry to defend Earth from Brainiac, who will be played by Lars Eidinger.
Returning cast members include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Maria Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer. It was also recently revealed that Aaron Pierre will reprise his role as John Stewart following his appearance in Lanterns.
Gunn recently offered some insight into the story, explaining what drives the film's central conflict. "At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex. I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me."
Whether Adria Arjona is actually the DCU's Wonder Woman remains one of the unanswered questions surrounding Man of Tomorrow. For now, fans are left sorting through conflicting reports while waiting for Gunn to finally reveal what's fact and what's simply another rumor making the rounds.
We'll find out where everything stands when Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters on July 9, 2027.
