Alan Tudyk Reveals He's Also Playing Clayface in CREATURE COMMANDOES
Alan Tudyk is a part of the impressive ensemble voice cast of the DC animated series Creature Commandos. When his casting was announced we learned that he would be playing Doctor Phosphorus in the show, but it’s now been revealed that he’s also voicing Clayface!
Tudyk recently broke the news himself during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes. When asked about how his experience playing other DC villains in the past has helped him in preparing for Creature Commandos, he said:
“The other DC villains that I play are in ‘Harley Quinn,’ which is very comedic. It’s a straight-up comedy, whereas this one is a drama that is funny, that has humorous elements within it, but it has action, drama, and passion.”
He then brought up Clayface, saying: “Clayface is a moron. I play, actually, Clayface in this series.”
Tudyk labeled his version of Clayface from the Harley Quinn show an “idiot” and revealed that, in Creature Commandos, “Clayface is a killer. We have a huge fight, and he’s a homicidal maniac.
“So it’s the same character, that’s what’s really cool about DC. I get to play the same character two completely different ways, and I like them both. It’s really nice that James let me play Clayface. I was so happy.”
I have to point out that it was previously reported that Tudky plays a secret role in James Gunn’s Superman movie, it would be wild if he showed up as Clayface!
The series “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails…they’re your last, worst option.”
The team in the series consists of a human, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and a gorgon. The voice cast includes David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from Peacemaker.
Creature Commandos will premiere on Max on December 5th, 2024.
