ALIEN: ROMULUS Director Teases Horrific Chestburster Scene and What Inspired It

There’s a scene from Alien: Romulus in the last trailer that was released that teased one of the chestbursting scenes from the movie. I’ve watched this full scene play out. It hasn’t been publically released, but I can tell you that it is the most horrific chestbursting scene that I’ve ever seen in an Alien movie.

The chestbursting scene is hardcore and will leave audiences cringing with how brutal it is. Director Fede Alvarez recently talked about this scene in the film teasing the content and also revealing that it was inspired by nature documentaries.

The filmmaker said that shooting the scene required nine puppeteers to effectively pull it off and said: "It is done almost like a nature documentary. While we were seeing it on set we were joking, [like] 'The creature is coming out slow. It's looking for the scent of the mother…'

“The creature's not trying to be scary. The creature is trying to get the f*ck out of that cocoon, that happens to be a person. It's almost like this is more realistic in a way, but without betraying all the beautiful things of the original designs."

Just wait until you see this scene play our for yourself! Horror fans will be in awe. Maybe they will show the full scene at Comic-Con! Alien: Romulus goes full on horror, and it looks like it’s going to be an awesome movie!

Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

The movie stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, who is also joined by Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.

Alvarez is directing from his script written by Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott is also a producer on the movie along with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.

Alien: Romulus is set to hit theaters on August 16th.
