ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Producer Continues to Tease the Possible Sequel

Everyone involved with the Alita: Battle Angel movie would love to see a sequel happen, and the main creative force behind the first film is taking the steps to make that happen.

Last week, producer Jon Landau revealed that they are looking to circle back and get that sequel going. He said: "There's a little film called Alita: Battle Angel that we would love to circle back and do a sequel to, and been talking to Robert Rodriguez about that and hopefully that comes to fruition."

Landau continues to tease the sequel, and in a recent interview with CB, he shared: "Robert [Rodriguez] and I had a conversation about it two weeks ago. We're very excited about that prospect. Alita is a movie that even now having recently like re-watched it for what we had, we're really proud of that movie. And we think that there are more stories to tell with her character and that's why we want to go back to it."

So, it seems like this is all recent movement, but I’d like to think they are a lot farther in development on the sequel than Landau is making it out to be. It’s probably not, though, that’s just my wishful thinking.

Landau went on to encourage the Alita fans to keep pumping excitement for the sequel saying: "Alita Army! Way to go keep it up. I got, I tell you a funny story. I went back to Los Angeles. I've been in New Zealand for quite some time and I went back to Los Angeles over the summer and the day I was there, the first day back, I opened the Los Angeles Times and there's an ad from the Alita Army in color and I was like, 'There you go! Thank you. Keep it up!'"

When previously talking about the sequel, Rodriguez said that he and James Cameron are still very much interested in making it. He said: "Jim [Cameron] and I talked about it recently, and we're still very interested. I told him, 'Let me deliver Boba and then let's figure out a pitch.'"

They do know where they want the story to go, though! Cameron wrote out 1000 pages of notes for a whole trilogy that they were planning! Hopefully they actually make this sequel happen!
