Andrew Garfield Thinks SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Trailer Looks “Very, Very Cool”... Even on Mute
The former Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield, recently shared his quick take on the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and even without hearing a single line of dialogue, he seems pretty into what he saw.
Garfield was making the rounds for his upcoming fantasy film The Magic Faraway Tree when the topic came up. Turns out, his first viewing experience of the trailer wasn’t exactly ideal.
"I haven't seen it yet with sound," he told ITN. “"I've seen it without sound, because I was in a makeup chair, and I didn't want to disturb everyone, but it looks cool... very, very cool."
Hey, if the trailer works without audio, that’s saying something!
The teaser, which dropped on March 18, throws Tom Holland’s Peter Parker straight back into the fallout of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell, Peter’s entire existence has been wiped clean from everyone’s memory. That includes MJ, played by Zendaya, who’s now moved on and started seeing someone new.
Peter’s problems don’t stop there. The footage shows him clashing with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, dealing with a physical transformation, and spiraling into confusion about what’s happening to his body.
At one point, he collapses in distress, only to wake up trapped inside a cocoon of his own webbing with his web-shooters failing him. "What is happening to me?" a sweat-covered Peter says in the clip.
Desperate for answers, he turns to Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, but like everyone else in this new reality, Banner has no idea who Peter is. Not exactly the support system Spidey was hoping for.
On top of all that chaos, Michael Mando’s Scorpion is waiting in the wings, and Peter’s going to have to get his act together fast if he wants to survive what’s coming next.
The cast is packed with some great additions too, including Tramell Tillman, Eman Esfandi, Jacob Batalon, and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink.
I’m sure one day Garfield will end up watching the trailer with sound, it sound. Fans won’t have to wait long to see how it all plays out when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.
