Another DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Cameo Actor Talks About His Return - “I Didn’t Think That Marvel Was Into It”
Deadpool & Wolverine was packed full of great cameos and some cameos were bigger than others. I figure if you clicked through to read this article, you knew you would be getting into some spoiler territory.
One of the coolest parts of the movie is when we learn that Jennifer Garner’s Electra teamed up with Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Dafne Keen’s X-23, and Wesley Snipes’ Blade in The Void. That was a lot of fun!
We’ve heard Tatum and Keen talk about their involvement with the film, but now we get to hear Snipes recall how he ended up getting involved, and he thought there was no way it would ever happen.
While talking to Entertainment Weekly, Snipes said: “It started with a text from Ryan Reynolds.” He then joked that when he saw the text and he said, “I hate this guy,” telling Reynolds directly, “You know, this is a joke. We’ve been playing this for like two decades. We’ve actually liked each other the whole time.”
Snipes said Reynolds told him he had an idea for him to reprise his role as Blade, but Snipes was hesitant at first, questioning how he was actually going to pull it off.
Snipes said, “It’s very unlikely. And I said, ‘Well, if you can make it happen. Sure. I’ll come and do it.'”
He continued, “I did not think it was possible. I didn’t think he would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it. Disney was into it. And also because they had Mahershala, you know, cast for the next upcoming version of it. So, it didn’t make sense to me.”
Well, if you saw the movie, you saw that Reynolds actually was able to pull it off and it helped take the movie to another level of awesomeness.
Snipes first played the superhero in 1998’s Blade, directed by Stephen Norrington. The actor would reprise the role in 2002’s Blade II and 2004’s Blade: Trinity, which Snipes and Reynolds starred in together.
