Anthony Mackie Disappointed THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Isn't Getting a Season 2
Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie recently expressed his disappointment Marvel Studios isn’t going to be producing a second season of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. While he does get to continue playing Captain America in a new movie, there are reasons why he would have rather continued with the series, which he calls, "the perfect storm of happiness."
During an interview with Radio Times, Mackie explained why he was bummed out to bid farewell to the Disney+ series, saying:
"The Falcon and [the] Winter Soldier, I really enjoyed doing that show. I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out. Because it's like me, him and Daniel Brühl. It's kind of like the perfect storm of happiness.
"When they decided to go back to the movies, it is what it is, but I don't have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit. Anything I can do to hang out with Daniel, a dancing Daniel Brühl, makes me very happy."
He obviously had a great time making The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, I wish the series would've turned out better. The whole purpose of it was to pass the mantle of Captain America on to Sam Wilson so that he could headline his own Captain America movie, though.
Mackie is joined in the film by Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross, who is the president of the United States in the story. The movie also stars Liv Tyler, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly.
Captain America: Brave New World arrives in theaters on February 14, 2025.
