Anya Taylor-Joy Is a Con Artist Fighting for Survival in Intense Trailer for Apple TV's LUCKY

Apple TV has released the first trailer for Lucky, a new limited series starring Anya Taylor-Joy, and it looks like audiences are in for a suspenseful ride packed with crime, deception, family drama, and a desperate fight for survival.

Based on the bestselling novel by Marissa Stapley, the series follows Lucky Armstrong, a woman whose life has been shaped by crime from the very beginning. As the trailer quickly makes clear, escaping that world isn't going to be easy.

The footage opens with Lucky in serious trouble after a multi-million-dollar heist goes horribly wrong. Suddenly, she's a wanted woman, hunted by the FBI and targeted by a dangerous crime boss who wants answers and her money.

At one point in the trailer, Lucky sums up her situation with a simple but effective line: “Just thinking I’d like to get out of here alive.”

The trailer also offers a glimpse into Lucky’s past, revealing that she was raised in a criminal environment by her father, played by Timothy Olyphant. That upbringing appears to have prepared her for a life of scams and high-stakes risks, but the events of the series push her into a situation where every move could be her last.

Adding another layer of danger is Annette Bening, who plays Priscilla, a powerful crime boss with a personal connection to Lucky. Lucky finds herself trapped between powerful enemies and impossible choices.

The series also boasts a supporting cast that includes Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner.

Lucky comes from Apple Studios and is co-showrun, written, and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper, whose previous Apple TV projects include See and Your Friends & Neighbors. He is joined by co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, who previously worked on Silo.

The project is also executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine, while Taylor-Joy serves as an executive producer through her Ladykiller production banner. Jonathan Van Tulleken directs multiple episodes, including the pilot, and also serves as an executive producer.

Lucky looks like a fast-moving crime thriller filled with shifting loyalties, family complications, and a lead character forced to outsmart everyone around her just to stay alive. Taylor-Joy continues to pick fascinating projects, and this one has all the ingredients of a series that could keep viewers hooked from start to finish.

Lucky premieres globally on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes on Wednesday, July 15.
