BARBARIAN Director Zach Cregger Reportedly in Talks to Helm a New RESIDENT EVIL Movie

Barbarian director Zach Cregger is reportedly in talks to helm a new Resident Evil movie. It was recently reported that he was offered to direct a new Clue movie, but apparently, he turned that down and is now looking at playing in the Resident Evil sandbox.

This report comes from The InSneider, and if this is true, and Cregger ends up taking the directing gig, he would be a great choice for Resident Evil! His film, Barbarian, seemed to hit many staples of the Resident Evil franchise with its wild and dark plot twists, sinister mystery, and grotesque creature.

The last attempt at a live-action Resident Evil project was the Netflix series, which was canceled after only one season because it was not good.

Over the years there have been seven Resident Evil movies made. The most recent film was 2021's Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which was a reboot directed by Johannes Roberts. That movie stuck more closely to the source material than the Milla Jovovich movies, and the reception was fairly mixed.

I’d be curious to see Cregger direct a Resident Evil film and see what kind of story he would tell.

What do you think about the possibility of Cregger directing a new Resident Evil movie?
