Bill Murray Talks About Jason Reitman's SNL Movie and Shares List of Actors Who Can Play Him
Jason Reitman is currently working on developing a movie based on the opening night of Saturday Night Live in 1975. Reitman is writing the film with Gil Kenan and he will also direct.
The film will be set on Oct. 11th, 1975, “where a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. This is the true story of what happened that night behind the scenes in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. The chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, as we countdown the minutes in real time to the infamous words, Live From New York, it’s Saturday Night.”
Bill Murray was a part of that historical TV event and during an interview with ET, Murray teased the project that Reitman has been picking his brain about over the years. He said:
"Well, he's been picking my brain about the SNL days since he was a grasshopper. So, he knows a lot of what I know. And, my friends. He's an astute person, an astute person and a director. I'm blessed that this movie will be about the original six or seven, you know? The original seven. So, I get to be on the sidelines. I think my name gets to be mentioned, which is good."
Murray then went on to share some ideas of actors who could play him in the film, and you’ll get a kick out of his response:
"I don't know. Of all the people that came after me, I think I really enjoyed… I think Kenan Thompson, he can play me. Or, Bill Hader, those two. Or Kristen Wiig, any of those three could play me. Or Amy Pohler."
It will be interesting to see who Reitman actually does end up casting in the film to play these iconic comedians. Is there an actor in mind that you’d want to see play Bill Murray?
