Charlie Cox Says He Doesn't Think He's Playing a Different Daredevil in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN

Marvel fans have been very curious about the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, and the version of Daredevil that Charlie Cox will be playing. Will he be the same version of the character from the Netflix series? Or will he be a different variant version of the character?

The version of the character we saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home was very much in line with the Netflix version of the character. But, the Daredevil we saw in She-Hulk felt different. Well, during a recent interview with UK's iNews, the actor says offered some insight on what we can expect from the character saying:

"I don't think it's a different character. I just think it's maybe a different period of his life. I don't think my interpretation will change -- they hired the same actor. We're saying this is a whole new… era, or variant? I haven't read the scripts, so I don't know. But like, it's part of the multiverse?"

While I like the sound of that, there are going to be big changes with Daredevil: Born Again. Cox previously shared that the series will be “a whole new thing” saying:

“I think that the sense is it is a new beginning, it is going to be different, it is going to be totally different. It is going to be new stories, and new ideas. It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing. Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently.”

Daredevil: Born Again will be the biggest Marvel project on Disney+ so far. When talking about the tone of the series, he said that he thinks it will be like an old-school procedural:

“I’m fascinated to discover why they’ve chosen to do 18. I’m imagining there’s going to be an element to it that is like the old-school procedural show. Not necessarily case-of-the-week, but something where we go really deep into Matt Murdock the lawyer and get to see what his life is like. If that’s done right and he really gets his hands dirty with that world… I think there’s something quite interesting about that.”

Cox went on to say that he believes the new show will be dark but not gory. He explains:

“My opinion is this character works best when he’s geared towards a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory. I would say to [people hoping the Disney+ show copies the Netflix show], we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?”

The series is being written and executive produced by Covert Affairs creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord. The 18-episode season of Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere sometime in 2024.
