Charlie Cox Says He Thought Vincent D'Onofrio Was Delusional When the Kingpin Actor Thought DAREDEVIL Would Come Back
Daredevil is almost back on our TVs! The Netflix series was one of the best Marvel shows ever made, and it’s coming back under the watch of Marvel at Disney+. Some thought the day would never come, including star of the show Charlie Cox, who plays the lawyer Matt Murdock by day and the masked vigilante by night. He had good reason to believe it was over for good after its cancelation, but his co-star, Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays the villainous Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, never stopped believing.
Cox recalled during a panel at Wales Comic Con:
"I really thought that ship had sailed, you know? I thought it was over. It had been a couple of years since [Daredevil was cancelled]. What I didn't know was there was an embargo on that. So, there was an amount of time – I think it was probably two years – after the show was canceled before Disney and Marvel could approach us. So, during that time, I didn't know that. I just thought it was over. And Vincent, who plays Wilson Fisk, him and I would chat occasionally on the phone. And he would kind of say, 'I'm sure they're gonna bring us back.' I'd be on the phone being, like, 'Mate, the guy's delusional! He's got to let it go.'"
That’s pretty cool that D’Onofrio never lost the faith. I’m glad to see that his prediction came true, and we are getting Daredevil back in the form of Daredevil: Born Again. Cox and D’Onofrio will be joined by returning cast member Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk. The cast also includes Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Clark Johnson in undisclosed roles.
