Cool New Character Posters Revealed for SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE
CinamaCon is happening in Las Vegas this week, and while I was walking around looking at all the displays and posters, I came across some new character posters to share with you for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse!
The photos feature Shameik Moore as Mile Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, aka Miguel O’Hara, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, a.k.a. Hobie Brown, and Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar as an Indian version of Spider-Man.
In the film, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”
Miles Morales is also “plunged into the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folks to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.” It was also revealed that Miles Morales is faced with a hard choice of saving one person – his dad – or saving every world.
Writer and producer Phil Lord talked about the movie saying, “It goes hard,” and, “The visuals will be jaw-dropping.” Moore went on to tease: “I will say that this story tops the first one. If the sky was the limit last time, the sky is now the floor. We’re stepping on it and looking at Jupiter!”Chris Miller explained: “Our contract with the audience is to bring them something they’ve never seen before. The first film was about bringing characters into Miles’ dimension. This is about Miles heading off into others.”
The film will consist of 240 characters, and it will explode in multiple universes explored including Gwen’s Earth-65, with its distinctive watercolor palette; the India-inspired Mumbattan; Nueva York, the home of Spider-Man 2099, aka Miguel O’Hara; the punky New London, inhabited by Hobart “Hobie” Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk; and then there’s a secretive fifth dimension that’s being kept tightly under wraps for now.
The movie is being directed and produced by Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Kemp Powers. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Christina Steinberg are also producing. Lord and Miller will also be credited as writers on the film, along with David Callaham.
The movie is set to be released on June 2nd, 2023! There’s also a third installment, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, already dated for March 29th, 2024.
