Could Henry Cavill's Potential STAR WARS Role Be a Villain?

It was recently reported that Henry Cavill is in talks with Lucasfilm to join a future Star Wars film project, and now a new rumor says that his possible role is a villain in the franchise.

While nothing has been confirmed by the studio, fans will continue to speculate on where Cavill might fit into the galaxy far, far away.

The latest update comes from industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello, who posted on X, stating: “The role Cavill had talks about with Lucasfilm is a VILLAIN role.”

That’s all we’ve got for now. There are no details on the character, which project he might be attached to, or how serious these discussions are if they are even happening.

But considering Cavill’s history in sci-fi and fantasy, the idea of Lucasfilm wanting him to join the Star Wars franchise isn’t too far-fetched.

Lucasfilm has multiple films in the works, including James Mangold’s movie about the origins of the Force, Dave Filoni’s New Republic-era crossover, and director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey Skywalker film set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker.

Jon Favreau is currently in the middle of directing The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Shawn Levy’s Star Wars project is also gaining some traction.

Simon Kinberg, co-creator of Star Wars Rebels, is also said to be working on a new trilogy. If Cavill does join the franchise, he could land in any one of these projects, or something entirely unannounced. But, he was initially rumored for Kinberg’s film.

Cavill is no stranger to genre roles. He made his mark as Superman in the DC Universe, took on Geralt in The Witcher, and is now diving into Warhammer 40K.

He even had a quick cameo as a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine. Back in 2016, he mentioned his interest in Star Wars, saying, “I secretly want to be a bad guy in Star Wars.” If these recent reports are true, he might finally get that wish.
