Courteney Cox Hasn't Signed on to SCREAM 7 Yet, but She Wants Dewey to Come Back
Neve Campbell is already set to star in the upcoming Scream 7 movie with franchise creator and writer Kevin Williamson set to direct. It’s assumed that Courtney Cox will return as well, but as of right now, she has yet to sign on to the project.
While speaking with Variety, Cox revealed that she's still seemingly in talks to play Gale Weathers again, saying: “I’m not officially signed on. I’m not, but there will be a Scream 7.”
The actress went on to say later in the interview that she wants David Arquette to also return to the franchise as Dewey, who was brutally killed off in Scream (2022).
She said: “I understand the reasons they did it, but whoa! Talk about a missed character. Dewey is so loved by Scream fans. They have to figure it out.”
That might be a little hard to figure out, but if they really do want to bring Dewey back, they will find a way. I was not a fan of Dewey being killed off the way he was, and a lot of other fans were pissed off. So, I can see why Cox would want to see Dewey return.
I still think it would be wild to see Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher make a comeback to the franchise. Regardless, how do you think Dewey could be brought back for the next film?
The script for Scream 7 is written by Guy Busick, from a story that he came up with with James Vanderbilt, who will continue to produce Scream 7.
