Dafne Keen Talks About Possible Avengers Role and Becoming the MCU's Wolverine

After reporing her role as Laura/X-23 in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans have been wondering what’s next for Dafne Keen’s role in the MCU.

The actress, who first played the role in 2017’s Logan, has now addressed the possibility of suiting up alongside the Avengers and even taking on the mantle of Wolverine in the MCU’s future.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Laura reunites with a different version of Logan. This time, though, the story doesn’t end in tragedy. Instead, Wolverine, after redeeming himself through his bond with Wade Wilson, chooses to stay on Earth-10005 with Laura, who was rescued from The Void by the TVA.

Rumors suggest that Keen may reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. It would be the fun opportunity for her to finally suit up as X-23, especially if Earth-10005 is indeed the universe teased at the end of The Marvels.

While speaking to The Direct at the Saturn Awards, Keen was asked about possibly joining the Avengers franchise, and she said:

“I would like to see her in a fun team-up. I would also love to see Laura in smaller stories as well. I enjoyed playing her in Logan, which was much more grittier.”

She added, “So that's fun. But I'd also be very, very open to a big whole action fight team up with the Avengers.”

As for whether she could take over from Hugh Jackman as the MCU’s Wolverine in a post-Secret Wars reboot, Keen responded playfully: “Well, can we both [Laura and Logan] be there? Yeah? OK, good. If we're both there, I'd be really happy.”

However, when pressed on whether she’d be excited about taking on the Wolverine mantle, she responded: “Wonderful. Yes. Honestly, anything that involves Laura, I’d be down to do.”

This isn’t the first time she’s expressed her love for the role. In a previous interview, Keen made it clear that she’s all in.

“I’ve said this a trillion times, I would play Laura for the rest of my life, and I would be content. She’s the most incredible character to play, and I have so much fun playing her, and I have so much love for her [and] Marvel.”

She continued, “So I really hope I get a call, even if it is to do like another tiny little silly cameo in something, I’d be really happy. Any chance I get to be her again and get the claws back on.”

With the MCU headed toward some big events inSecret Wars, the opportunity for Keen to step into the MCU and take on a bigger role is more realistic than ever.

Whether she becomes the franchise’s new resident Wolverine or continues as a variant of the character, one thing’s clear, a lot of fans want to see her return.
