Daisy Ridley Teases Her STAR WARS Return and Shares Thoughts on Ryan Gosling’s STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER
Star Wars fans are still waiting to see what the future of the franchise looks like on the big screen, and Daisy Ridley is once again stepping into that conversation.
While promoting her latest projects, the actress offered a few carefully chosen words about returning as Rey in the upcoming Star Wars: New Jedi Order and also weighed in on another highly anticipated galaxy-spanning adventure, Star Wars: Starfighter.
Ridley reassured fans that the wait for her film will pay off. Speaking with Parade, she explained, “it will arrive when it’s ready, and it will be worth the wait.”
We’ve heard the film will be set 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and it will see Rey return as a central figure in the story that might see her rebuilding the Jedi order. Ridley is currently the only confirmed cast member, and Lucasfilm has kept everything else tightly under wraps.
Ridley also shared her excitement for Star Wars: Starfighter, the upcoming film directed by Shawn Levy and led by Ryan Gosling. She’s just as curious as fans to see how the project turns out.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing” the film, Ridley said. “I think that will be great. Such a brilliant group of actors. I saw Kathy [Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm President] recently and asked how it was going, and she said it was amazing.”
Starfighter is set five years after Episode IX and boasts a stacked ensemble that includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Flynn Gray, and Amy Adams. The film is currently scheduled to land in theaters on May 28, 2027, positioning it as one of the next major theatrical events for the franchise.
During the interview, Ridley also reflected on her personal favorite Star Wars film, giving the nod to Star Wars: A New Hope. She explained why the 1977 classic still stands above the rest for her, “because it’s all the origins of it all.” She continued, “[It’s] the beautiful setting up of – the creation of all these wonderful people and the characters and the universe.”
Between New Jedi Order, Starfighter, and The Mandalorian and Grogu, the future of Star Wars on the big screen is slowly coming into focus.
