Daniel Radciffe Is Getting Buff, But Says It's Not Because He's Playing Wolverine in DEADPOOL 3

There’s a rumor that’s been spreading online that Daniel Radcliffe is playing a version of Wolverine in Deadpool 3. The actor has also been working out and getting buff, so a lot of fans are thinking that this rumor might be true. Well, Radcliffe recently addressed his muscle gain and he says that it’s not because he’s playing Wolverine.

Radcliffe was asked by his Merrily We Roll Along musical co-stars Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez during a Vanity Fair lie detector test if he started the Wolverine rumor and if the reason he was gaining muscle was to play the character, which he denied. He said:

“No. Yes. I got buff because I am obsessive, and I want to… You’ve seen my parents, they’re like insane fitness people. So that’s just been passed on. But no. No Wolverine. Flattered, but no.”

He’s in the middle of a lie detector test when he says this, and it looks like he’s telling the truth. So, don’t expect to see Radcliffe as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

Radcliffe was once asked about playing Wolverine in the MCU, and the actor explained that he doesn’t think that Marvel would choose someone like him after Hugh Jackman, but he also did invite Marvel to prove him wrong. He said:

"So many times, people come to me like, 'hey man, heard the Wolverine news, that's pretty cool.' No, I don't know anything about it. Like, I appreciate that somebody is clearly going like 'Wolverine's actually short in the comic books, you should get like a short guy to do it!' But I don't see myself, I don't see them going from Hugh Jackman to me. But who knows? Prove me wrong, Marvel."

Radcliffe later said that the rumor of him circling the role is “purely a press tour rumor.” He explained: “I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth.” Radcliffe added at the time, “I just don’t ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time.”

In another interview with EW, when the actor was asked about the Wolverine rumor, he said, “Wolverine is short, so every so often they’re like, ‘Who’s a short actor?’ There’s never been any actual truth to it. Every so often I get bored of answering the questions sensibly, so I just make a joke like I did the other day and that sort of has reignited the rumors of it, but there’s nothing going on.”
