Daniela Melchior Set To Play Ratcatcher in James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD
James Gunn is currently working on The Suicide Squad and filling out the cast. His latest casting choice is Daniela Melchior, who’s a newcomer from Portugal.
She is set to play the DC character Ratcatcher who was originally a man, but her character seems to be reworked to have ties to Idris Elba’s mystery character. I’ll be honest, I already like her as she is a lesser known actor. I’m getting tired of the same 50 actors being cast in everything.
Ratcatcher is described as a “super-criminal and one of Batman’s many enemies. She started out as an exterminator in Gotham City before turning to a life of crime, aided by an army of small rodents she can communicate with and control. She’s also a fan of poisonous gas.”
Melchior oins the previously cast Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney, as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Idris Elba, who was initially taking on the role of Deadshot before a script change saw it evolve to a new, undisclosed role. Then there’s David Dastmalchian in the role of the Polka-Dot Man and John Cena is also said to be in talks for a role. Other characters that might end up being in the film include Peacemaker, and King Shark.
While we don’t have any concrete story details, it is said that the current draft of the script could “follow the team on a mission to the Middle East to stop Onslaught and infiltrate their headquarters in Qurac. This seems like a fitting type of story for the ‘Suicide Squad’ that will keep the stakes lower compared to the first film.”
The Suicide Squad release date is currently set for August 6th, 2021.
