DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Is Described as Being as "Problematic and Scary as the World of GAME OF THRONES"
A lot of Marvel fans are curious and excited to see what Daredevil: Born Again delivers when it comes to Disney+. The development of the series has had some pretty big bumps and complications, but hopefully, the creative team managed to pull off something awesome.
Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, recently reiterated just how gritty and dark the series will be.
During an appearance on ABC's On The Red Carpet Storytellers Spotlight stage at D23, Winderbaum compared Born Again to HBO's Game of Thrones.
He explained: "Imagine if New York City was as intricate and problematic and scary as the world of Game of Thrones. All these forces vying for control, and it can be really hopeful at times, and really violent at times, and dark-but also there's light at the end of the tunnel if you could just fight for it."
I’m sure fans of Marvel like the sound of that. Winderbaum previously talked about the brutal action in the series, saying: “I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming in Daredevil: Born Again, which isn’t a horror show, but really it packs a lot of power and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least.”
Daredevil: Born Again catches up with Matt Murdock, “a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk, who’s pursuing his own political endeavors in New York.”
Winderbaum previously compared the show to X-Men ‘97: "Daredevil is incredible. It's similar in some ways to X-Men '97 because it's reviving something that the fans love. But it's taking it in a new direction.”
He went on to tease how things have changed, saying: "These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society's changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.
“And their characters are gonna collide in ways we've never seen before. It's no longer enough to try to murder each other. There's a whole game of politics at play."
Daredevil: Born Again is currently being developed by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on both Moon Knight and Loki.
The series stars Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio as The Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.
The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Jeremy Earl, and more.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to arrive on Disney+ in March 2025.
