DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Star Charlie Cox Reveals One Scene That Connects The Series To The Netflix Show
When Daredevil: Born Again initially started production, the series was going to be its own thing and there were no plans to connect it to the original Netflix Daredevil show.
During the pandemic, Marvel Studios saw that this version of the series wasn’t working and they fired the writers and director and brought on a new team to take the series in a new direction.
The version that they came up with does connect to the original Netflix series and it brings back many of the characters such as Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson).
Now we know how exactly Daredevil: Born Again will connect to the original series thanks to Charlie Cox.
During and interview with EW, Cox explained: "Deborah [Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page] and I had a scene where we find an old box – am I allowed to say that? I think I can say that.
"We had a scene where we were looking through a box and we find stuff from the past, and it was real stuff from the past. It was stuff from the old [show].
“It was like a photo frame we used on a set eight years ago and we were looking at it together – well, I wasn’t looking at it. But we were reminiscing over it, and it was sweet. It was kind of a little bit of life imitating art."
When previously talking about the series, Marvel head Kevin Feige said: "In Daredevil: Born Again, we've channeled the essence of the original series but set an entirely new path for Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.”
The new Disney+ series also brings back Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), and is described as more of a revival rather than a reboot of the Netflix version of Daredevil.
The new series is reportedly inspired by the Devil's Reign storyline, which explores the power dynamics between Kingpin and the vigilantes who stand up against him. The story revolves around the power struggle between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, who becomes the Mayor of New York City.
Daredevil: Born Again is developed by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on both Moon Knight and Loki.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to arrive on Disney Plus in March 2025.
