DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Star Charlie Cox Says Foggy and Karen Are the "Heartbeat" of Daredevil
Marvel fans were happy to learn that Elden Henson's Foggy and Deborah Ann Woll's Karen were returning for Daredevil: Born Again. Their inclusion came from the new creative team that was brought onto the project to fix things and change the direction of the story. This was all around the time that Marvel Studios announced that the Netflix Marvel shows were now canon.
During a recent interview with series star Charlie Cox, he talked about how happy he is that Henson and Ann Woll have returned to the series. He also calls them the heartbeat of the show, saying:
"Yeah, it was pretty heartbreaking when they weren’t around initially. When we came back to filming and they had made some changes, which you guys obviously probably read about and stuff, you know, it was clear that Foggy and Karen are kind of the heartbeat of our show. They always were. So [it feels] really special to have them back."
He went on to say:
"Huge shout out to Deborah and to Elden. I know there's been photos, there were some set photos that came out, so I know I can talk about it because it's on the internet. But it was really sweet to have some scenes together again."
There has been some speculation that one or both of these characters will be killed off in the series, but if Cox is calling them the heartbeat of the series, there’s no way that’s going to happen… right?
The new series is reportedly inspired by the Devil's Reign storyline, which explores the power dynamics between Kingpin and the vigilantes who stand up against him. The story revolves around the power struggle between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, who becomes the Mayor of New York City.
In this arc, Kingpin uses his newfound political influence to launch a crackdown on vigilantes, making their activities illegal. This leads to a fierce confrontation between Daredevil and Kingpin, with the latter using all his resources to hunt down and eliminate Daredevil and his allies.
Vincent D'Onofrio previously talked about the project saying: "During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, 'Look, this is how we've got to do it now. So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that's a great thing. It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons. So we now get to start this Born Again situation with all of that history behind us and the outcome of all that history. So we're all talking about Daredevil: Born Again in those terms now."
Daredevil: Born Again doesn't yet have a release date, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this show will continue Daredevil’s story.
