DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Star Deborah Ann Woll Breaks Silence on Series Ending: “Grateful for You”
Deborah Ann Woll has responded to the news that Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again will end with its upcoming third season, sharing a short but heartfelt message with fans who have followed Karen Page through two different eras of the series.
Following the report that Season 3 will be the final chapter, Woll posted on Facebook: “Enjoy the last season, guys! We worked really hard on it. Grateful for you.”
Woll has played Karen Page since the original Daredevil series launched on Netflix, eventually returning alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio when Marvel brought the characters back for Born Again on Disney+.
Season 3 will close out the series, with the news coming roughly two months after filming wrapped. There has also been another major change at Marvel, as showrunner Dario Scardapane had departed during post-production.
Scardapane’s contract expired and Marvel opted not to renew it. That leaves Born Again without its showrunner as work on the final season moves toward completion, though one source says post-production is nearly finished.
The series has already put Matt Murdock through hell. Season 2 saw Cox’s Murdock land in prison while D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk rose to become mayor of New York City.
With Fisk using his political power to target Daredevil and other vigilantes, the pieces are in place for Season 3 to bring their conflict to a close.
Getting Daredevil: Born Again to this point has been a wild ride of its own. Marvel originally announced the Disney+ revival in July 2022 as an ambitious 18-episode season.
Production was disrupted by the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes, after which Marvel overhauled the series and moved away from original head writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord.
Scardapane, who previously worked on Marvel’s The Punisher for Netflix, was brought in as showrunner. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead also joined the project as directors and executive producers. Marvel eventually divided that original episode order into two seasons consisting of 17 episodes.
The end of Born Again also comes as Marvel Television scales back its Disney+ output. The studio’s next series, VisionQuest, starring Paul Bettany, is set to debut in October.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is currently expected to arrive in 2027, giving Matt Murdock, Karen Page, Wilson Fisk, and the rest of this corner of the MCU one more season to finish their story.
Considering everything this series went through just to make its way back to television, hopefully Marvel gives Daredevil one hell of a final run.
