Deborah Ann Woll Teases a Deeper Matt and Karen Relationship in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2
The return of Daredevil: Born Again is bringing plenty of action back to Hell’s Kitchen, but it looks like the emotional side of Matt Murdock’s life will also play a big role moving forward.
New comments from Deborah Ann Woll hint that the connection between Matt and Karen Page could grow into something much more meaningful when the series returns for its next season.
Fans who followed their complicated relationship through the original Daredevil series already know these two have a long history. Now it sounds like the next chapter of Born Again may push that relationship into deeper territory.
Woll recently spoke with The Direct while promoting another project and offered some insight into where things may be heading for Karen and Matt. According to the actress, the events of the previous season leave both characters in a place where they rely on each other more than ever. She explained:
“Matt and Karen are both loners, and so they are pretty much the only other person that the other one has left.”
That sense of isolation becomes a key factor in how their relationship evolves. Both characters operate on the edges of their world, often carrying heavy burdens alone. Because of that, their bond grows stronger as the story continues.
Season 1 ended with Matt and Karen reuniting and preparing to fight back against the expanding power of Wilson Fisk, now serving as mayor and pushing an aggressive anti-vigilante agenda.
With Fisk tightening his grip on New York, Matt and Karen find themselves working side by side again, building a network of allies to stand against him.
Spending that much time together naturally strengthens their connection, and Woll hinted that the relationship is rooted in emotional support as much as anything else.
“There’s a dependence and a reliance and a support of one another.”
That dynamic may already be showing up visually in the early marketing for the upcoming season. Fans noticed a brief moment in the first trailer where Matt and Karen share a quiet dance, a scene that instantly sparked speculation that their relationship could finally move into romantic territory.
Of course, nothing is simple in Matt Murdock’s world. His life as a vigilante, combined with Fisk’s political power and the dangers surrounding Hell’s Kitchen, means any relationship comes with serious complications.
Still, it sounds like the show is leaning into the emotional history between the characters rather than ignoring it, which will likely make longtime fans of the Netflix-era Daredevil pretty happy.
Daredevil: Born Again brings Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock alongside Woll as Karen Page. The cast also includes Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Wilson Fisk and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026, and Marvel Studios has already confirmed that a third season is on the way.
