David Harbour Teases Why the Asterisk Was Added to THUNDERBOLTS*
During a recent interview with Comic Book, actor David Harbour addressed why an asterisk had been added to the title of Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts* movie.
Ever since it was added, the only thing anyone has said about it is that “you’ll just have to wait and see.” Well, Harbour talks a little bit more in length about it, but he steers clear of spoiling anything.
Harbour teased: “I mean, they retroactively put the asterisk [in]. The asterisk was an idea that someone had….. What can I say that’s not going to get me in trouble? …
“The asterisk is very cool. I understand why people might put an asterisk there. I’m excited for the viewers to see that as well. But I, again, I just can’t say anymore.”
He went on to say that the movie is testing well with internal screenings: "I'm very proud of this movie, what we shot. I hear it's playing well internally and I'm excited for people to see it.
“I think it's going to really surprise people. I think people have seen from the trailer, from the shots. I think it's a pretty cool direction of the MCU's sort of making now. And I'm excited to be a part of that."
There are rumors that the plan is for this team to be revealed as the Dark Avengers, which would make of an interesting twist. But, until the movie is released, we won’t know for sure what Marvel is looking to do with there characters.
The cast of Thunderbolts* also includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Lewis Pullman as The Sentry, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns, Kidding) and was written by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) and Kurt Busiek.
Thunderbolts* is currently set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
