DAREDEVIL Star Deborah Ann Woll Addresses The Future of Karen Page Following Rumors of Her Appearing in BORN AGAIN
I sure would love to see Deborah Ann Woll reprise her role as Karen Page in the upcoming MCU series Daredevil: Born Again. There have been rumors that she could return, and it would be a shame if Marvel moved forward without Woll’s version of Karen Page.
During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Woll was asked about the rumors of her returning to play the character, but she completely avoided answering the question and instead talked about how much she loved playing Karen Page, and the future of the character, saying:
"Look, playing Karen Page was one of the great roles of my career so far. I have such enormous love and respect for her, for myself, for the story that we created together. I think any iteration of Karen that comes back, if she comes back, if it's me, if it's not me, if it's in comic books, if it's in 50 years, whatever it is, I just hope that it continues to honor her. That you're never just the sidekick.
"You might not see the Karen Page story, but she's having a whole TV show on her own that no one filmed. Make sure that, for our characters, who are not superheroes or are not the lead fighter in that way, that we just continue to honor that they have full lives. That's what I really appreciated about my time playing Karen Page, and I would hope that if I got to do it again or if it continues, that people would have the same care for her.
"I'm so proud. I really am. I loved working on that so much, and she's such a cool, cool person. I miss her."
As for what Marvel is planning for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, it was previously reported – SPOILER ALERT– that the show would kick off with the death of Elden Henson's Foggy Nelson. Some rumors claimed Karen would also be caught in the crossfire, while others said she doesn't appear at all.
The series is currently in the middle of a creative overhaul, though, so who knows what the new creative team is going to keep from the previous regime that was fired.
Regardless of the story, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page played a significant part in the original Netflix series and the fans liked those characters! It just seems like it would be a stupid decision on Marvel’s part not to include them in the new series, but that’s par for the course for Marvel right now.
From everything being said by the actors and the creative team, this new Daredevil show is going to be a fresh start for the franchise. So, I’m not expecting Foggy or Karen to show up.
Charlie Cox will return to the role of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the series, and he’ll be joined by Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk. It also includes Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Clark Johnson in undisclosed roles.
