Delia Deetz's Statue From BEETLEJUICE Stolen From BEETLEJUICE 2 Set and Police Are Looking For It
Tim Burton has been in production on Beetlejuice 2 for some time now, but during the actors and writers strikes, I imagine not much is going on with the production and the sets are just sitting around waiting to be used again.
Well, it looks like someone took advantage of the empty sets to steal some of the props from the film. One of those props was the weird iconic statue from Catherine O'Hara’s character Delia Deetz from the first film. The Vermont State Police shared a tweet revealing that in addition to the 150-pound statue, the thieves also stole a lamppost complete with a pumpkin decoration.
"We tried saying the name of this stolen statue three times, but it didn't come back! We're investigating the theft of this 150-pound sculpture from the Beetlejuice 2 set in [East Corinth], along with a lamppost topped with a pumpkin decoration.”
You can check out the tweet below. It amusing to think that someone is probably hiding this statue prop in their basement. This seems like something you’d see in the TV series Shameless.
The movie stars Michael Keaton, who is returning to play the Ghost with the Most, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Jenna Ortega as her daughter, Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz, Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), and Monica Bellucci (Irreversible, Spectre, The Apartment) as Beetlejuice’s wife in the story. Willem Dafoe is also in the movie and plays a ghoulish law enforcement officer in the Neitherworld.
The project has started production with Burton directing from a script written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Wednesday and Smallville). The script was also worked on by Mike Vukadinovich, with earlier drafts from Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith are producing. Danny Elfman is also returning to compose the score.
The movie will be released in theaters on September 6th, 2024.
