Director Dave Filoni Confirmed to Return for THE MANDALORIAN Season 2
Dave Filoni directed two episodes of the first season of Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian, and while we all knew he would be coming back to direct another episode or two for the second season, we have confirmation that he has officially returned.
The following photo from the set of Season 2 was shared by cinematographer Baz Idoine to announce production has wrapped on the upcoming season, and Dave Filoni’s name is clearly listed as the director on the slate.
Now, just because this states that the production has wrapped, it doesn’t mean that Filoni directed the season finale. The episodes of these Star Wars series are not necessarily shot in order.
As for the rest of the directors of Season 2, series creator Jon Favreau confirmed he would direct at least one episode. It was also previously reported that Carl Weathers would direct an episode and it’s been said that Bryce Dallas Howard returned as well, with James Mangold and Robert Rodriguez reportedly helping direct sequences.
Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow, and Taikia Watiti all directed episodes in the first season but we have yet to see if any of them returned for Season 2.
I just can’t wait to see the adventure of the Mando and The Child continue! We know that Mando is taking The Child to the Jedi and that Gideon will continue hunting them down. It’s also been reported that Mando will encounter some characters from the Skywalker saga, and I can’t wait to see who they are.
