Disney Reveals First Cool Footage From TRON: ARES; Nine Inch Nails Will Score The Film

Disney revealed the first footage from its upcoming TRON: Ares film at D23 and it gives us our first look at the return of Jeff Bridges! The footage looks pretty cool and it’s sure to get fans excited. It’s already leaked online so you can check it out below if you want.

The film follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares (Jared Leto), “who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

It was also announced at the event that Nine Inch Nails will be creating the musical score for the film, so we know the soundtrack is going to be awesome!

Evan Peters plays Julian Dillinger in the film and the footage features him talking about the future of humanity during a presentation and he says, “Since time began, man has gazed at the stars and wondered, am I alone?”

Turns out we’ve been looking in the wrong direction because intelligent life does exist — but it’s not out there, it’s in here. So much talk of AI and big tech, virtual worlds, when are we gonna get there. Well folks, we’re not going. They are coming here.”

The footage cuts to Ares in the real world, touching the rain. “There is something at work in my soul, I do not understand,” he says. “I came here to find something.”

The rest of the footage includes shots of a car being sliced in half by a light cycle and a barefoot Bridges in white robes intoning, “Greetings, program.”

The movie also stars Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse), Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson.

Joachim Rønning directed the film, who previously talked about the movie saying: "I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world.

“TRON: Ares builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid."

The movie will be released on October 10th, 2025.
