Drew Goddard Producing a Comedic Coming-of-Age Mystery Series PHONY with Connie Britton Set To Star
Drew Goddard, the writer behind The Cabin in the Woods and The Martian, is developing a comedic coming-of-age mystery series for Hulu titled Phony.
Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) is also attached to star in the series and executive produce it with Nick Paley (Marcel The Shell With Shoes On).
Phony tells the story of a teenager named Sonny, “who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover his mom — his only parent and his best friend — appears to have been replaced by an impostor.”
Britton will play Sonny’s single mom Ellen and the principal of his high school.
This sounds like it will make for an enjoyable series, and the talent involved ensures that this will be a well-made show that will entertain audiences.
Goddard recently wrote the upcoming sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary, which is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and stars Ryan Gosling.
Britton recently starred in Apple TV+’s Dear Edward. She also starred in the first season of the Mike White’s HBO series The White Lotus.
