Marvel Studios Reportedly Eyeing Director Drew Goddard For SPIDER-MAN 4
Marvel Studios is currently developing a fourth Spider-Man film, this is a film that is still in early development and there are a lot of things to figure out before they move the film into production. One of the main things they need to do is lock down a director.
Jon Watts helmed the first three films in the franchise, but he jumped over to Lucasfilm to work on the Star Wars series The Skeleton Crew, and there’s a chance that Marvel might not be able to get him back for Spider-Man 4. So, the studio is now looking at possible director candidates to fill the job.
According to Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman, one of the directors that Marvel is looking at Drew Goddard. Goddard is best known for helming The Cabin in the Woods and Bad Times at the El Royale. Both of those are great movies and I think that he would be a strong choice for Spider-Man 4, but there are a lot of other filmmakers that are sure to be in the running if Watts doesn’t come back.
The wouldn’t be Goddard’s first time playing in the Marvel sandbox as he was also an executive producer and writer on Netflix's Daredevil series. He also made uncredited screenplay polishes for the first two Avengers movies.
There is a rumor that Daredevil might be involved with Spider-Man 4, so bringing Goddard on board seems to make a lot of sense, if that ends up being true.
Tom Holland has been talking a lot about coming back for Spider-Man 4 and how apprehensive he is about it. But, we all know that this movie is going to get made regardless of what he is saying. He’s just playing the press.
