Edward James Olmos Joins Marvel's MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR as a Villain
Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has been a big hit with audiences. The first season was a lot of fun. Season 2 is on its way, and it will include a pretty impressive guest star. Edward James Olmos has joined the series and he will be taking on the role of the main villain… Molecule Man.
Molecule Man is “a powerful being with the ability to manipulate nonliving organic matter. Often feeling like there was no place for him, he escaped to a whole new planet and used his powers to create an incredible world of natural wonder, soon making it a popular destination for aliens and beings across the multiverse!”
The character first made his debut in Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four #20, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It’s explained that when casting an actor to play the character, they needed someone whose “voice was powerful enough to face off with Lawrence Fishburne, who voices The Beyonder.” The creative team thought Olmos was a perfect fit.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is based on Marvel’s hit comic book series, and the story follows the adventures of a 13-year-old super-genius named Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. “After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city's Lower East Side from danger.”
The series also stars Diamond White (The Bold and the Beautiful, The Lion Guard) as Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl); Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage) as Lunella's grandmother, Mimi; Libe Barer (Sneaky Pete) as Lunella's best friend and manager, Casey; Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live) as Lunella's mom, Adria; Jermaine Fowler (Superior Donuts) as Lunella's dad, James Jr.; Fred Tatasciore (Marvel's Avengers Assemble) as the one-and-only Devil Dinosaur; and Gary Anthony Williams (Doc McStuffins) as Lunella's grandfather, Pops.
Peter Weller also joined the cast along with Colbie Smothers, who will reprise her role as Maria Hill.
Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is produced by Black-ish and Grown-ish executive producer Helen Sugland.
