EVIL DEAD RISE Clip Features the Discovery of Another Book of the Dead
A new clip has been released for director Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise and it features the scene in which The Book of the Dead is discovered, and as the caption reads with the clip, it’s “NOT an easy read,” which is true because it never has been an easy read!
In Army of Darkness, Sam Raimi introduced the idea that there are at least three Necronomicon books, aka The Book of the Dead, in the world, and the director of Evil Dead Rise plays with that idea in the film.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine Cronin explained: “There’s direct connectivity between what happens in this story and the others. They’re in the same world – this is not a parallel universe in any way. It’s happening after Fede’s movie, and after Sam’s, but in a world where those stories have taken place.”
He went on to talk about The Book of the Dead, saying: “The book that’s in this story is connected back to the past. If we look at Army of Darkness, and at the fact that there’s three books: Sam used one, Fede used one, and I said, ‘Y’know what, give me the third one, and let me go tell an Evil Dead story in that context.”
In the fifth Evil Dead film, “a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”
The movie stars Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic At Hanging Rock).Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End), and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation). Evil Dead Rise is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023.
