EVIL DEAD RISE Director Offers Details on Bruce Campbell's Easy-To-Miss Cameo
Evil Dead Rise hit theaters this past weekend and it had a pretty successful opening weekend! It was a wonderfully terrifying blood-drenched movie that I enjoyed, and at one point, Bruce Campbell made a little easy-to-miss cameo.
While Campbell does not actually appear in the movie, I did catch his cameo, and the director Lee Corin recently confirmed it and offered some cool insight into it. Campbell recorded some lines of dialogue for a particular scene.
Minor spoilers ahead. In the film, the teenage son of the possessed mother finds the Book of the Dead and a collection of old vinyl record recordings from the 1920s. The recordings on these old records include the incantation that unleashes the evil Deadite demons on the family.
The recording also included a debate between a group of priests who are debating the Necronomicon and if they should dig in and study it or not. Bruce Campbell is in attendance at this meeting and he is against the idea and yells out his disapproval.
When talking about Campbell’s cameo in the movie, the director of the film said: "Bruce came over to Ireland when we were working on the sound and I asked him if he would do this teeny, tiny, little cameo for me. And the fun part is, that's not necessarily Bruce Campbell playing someone else – that could very well be Ash Williams."
I actually thought about that being Ash when I heard his voice, so I’m happy to see Corin confirm that that could be the case! It’s not too far-fetched to think that Ash could have found himself in the 1920s at some point, as it’s not the first time he’s been pulled through time.
Did you catch his cameo when you watched the movie?
