Ewan McGregor Rumored to Have Signed on For Lucasfilm's OBI-WAN KENOBI Series For Disney+

There have been rumors about Lucasfilm developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+. There was a movie being developed for some time, but after Solo: A Star Wars Story didn’t live up to expectations, Lucasfilm changed up their whole Star Wars strategy.

Cinelinx is now reporting that the series is moving forward and Ewan McGregor has signed on to reprise his role of Kenobi in the series! While this is only a rumor for now, this is something that Star Wars fans have been hoping to see! I hope that it’s true and that there’s an official announcement coming at D23 later this month.

The site reporting the news claims to have had this information confirmed by two sources. But, as of right now, I’m going to stay cautiously optimistic.

McGregor has said in the past that he’d be interested in reprising the role if he was asked. There’s no word on what the story would entail, but a rumored plot summary has made the rounds online:

Obi-Wan is on Tatooine being an elusive hermit and stuff, but secretly watches over an infant Luke Skywalker, whom he delivered to his uncle, Owen. Tensions between the local farmers and a tribe of Sand People -- headed by a ruthless war chief -- eventually brings Obi outta hiding ... and into Jedi kickass mode. Scene.

I have no idea if this is the direction that the series will go if it happens, but regardless, I’m still excited to see a series that focuses on Obi-Wan!
