New Report Claims an OBI-WAN KENOBI Disney+ Series Is in Early Development at Lucasfilm

It looks like there actually may be some truth to the rumor regarding Obi-Wan Kenobi being developed as a Star Wars series for Disney+. The rumor was initially reported a month ago, but now there’s a second report from a second source that the report is actually accurate.

According to Discussing Film, who has been a reliable source in the past, the series is in early development. There’s no information on who the creative team is that is developing the series, but it’s expected to only have 6 to 8 episodes and it won’t be drawn out multiple seasons.

Apparently, Lucasfilm is looking to film the series at Pinewood Studios, UK, which is where they were planning to shoot the project when it was being developed as a film.

There’s no word on whether Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan, but I imagine he’d come back for it! He’s said in the past that he’s interested, so it would be a shame if the series moved forward without him. There’s no word on what the story would entail, but a rumored plot summary did make the rounds online:

Obi-Wan is on Tatooine being an elusive hermit and stuff, but secretly watches over an infant Luke Skywalker, whom he delivered to his uncle, Owen. Tensions between the local farmers and a tribe of Sand People -- headed by a ruthless war chief -- eventually brings Obi outta hiding ... and into Jedi kickass mode. Scene.

I’ve been a supporter of an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone project since it was first rumored. I just love this character and would like to see his life on Tatooine explored more. There’s a huge gap there in his life, and while some fans think this would be a boring series, I’d like to think that Obi-Wan lived a very exciting and adventure-filled life on Tatooine, and I’d like to see those stories told!

What would you like to see explored in an Obi-Wan Kenobi series?
