First Reactions Surface for Marvel's ECHO Series and It's Described as Brutal, Violent, Dark, Gritty, and Grounded

I’ve been seeing a lack of excitement for Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Echo. When it was announced that Marvel would be dumping all of the episodes at once on Disney+, fans believed that this was Marvel showing that they don’t have confidence in the project. There were some behind the scenes issues during the production of the series, but Marvel and the creative team managed to work their way through them.

Members of the media have had the opportunity to watch the first three episodes of the show, and some of them have been sharing their reactions on social media. Pretty much all of the reactions that I’ve come across are positive! People love what they’ve seen from the series so far and describe it as brutal, violent, dark, gritty, and grounded.

The reactions praise the series and its star Alaqua Cox and say that if you liked the series Daredevil, you’re going to like what this has to offer, which is encouraging. I’ve been hoping that this show would be good, and these first reactions are exciting to see. Hopefully, the show ends up being great!

Check out the reactions below:

The series centers on Maya Lopez as she “struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations tied to a life of crime as successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) aka Kingpin. In the first episode, we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles."

When talking about the series, when Echo director and executive producer Sydney Freeland was asked about Kingpin’s presence in the series, the director responded: "I will say very large. Yeah. It's one of the core relationships in the entire series, the relationship between Kingpin and Maya. And we'll come to sort of find out that he becomes a kind of surrogate father to her. It's one of the core relationships in the entire series, I'll say that much."

Echo is being developed by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers on the show. The series also stars Charlie Cox, Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Devery Jacobs, and Graham Greene.

All five episodes will drop on Disney+ and Hulu on April 9th, 2024.
