First Teaser Trailer for the '70s-Set JOHN WICK Spinoff Series THE CONTINENTAL
Peacock has dropped the first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated John Wick prequel series The Continental. This is a prequel story set in the ‘70s that will offer some background and history on this fascinating world of assassins and the High Table. I’ve been excited about this show and I’m diffing the vibe from this first look.
The Continental is planned as a three-episode event series with each episode being 90 minutes long. The story for the series will be told through the eyes and actions of Winston Scott, “who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.”
It’s going to be a lot of fun watching this and seeing just how Winston took control of The Continental Hotel. I really hope that we get to see him engaged in some crazy action! I always wondered if Winston was a badass in his youth, and now we’ll get to see!
The series stars Colin Woodell as a young Winston Scott; Ayomide Adegun, who will portray a young Charon (based on Lance Reddick’s character); Peter Greene, who dons the fedora of Uncle Charlie (based on the tight-lipped body disposal expert); Mel Gibson as Cormac; Ben Robson as Frankie; Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles; Jessica Allain as Lou; Mishel Prada as KD; and Nhung Kate as Yen.
Chris Mansolillo, Director, Content Acquisition, Prime Video said in a statement: “The John Wick films have created one of the most immersive, detailed and enjoyable universes we’ve seen on screen in the last decade. We are extremely proud to play a part in continuing to build that universe, offering viewers an insight into the origins of the infamous Continental Hotel and its incredible characters.”
The series is being written and executive produced by Greg Coolidge (Wayne, Ride Along) and Kirk Ward (Wayne), who also serve as showrunners. David Leitch, Derek Kolstad, Erica Lee, Chad Stahelski, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese will also serve as executive producers.
The three-part event will hit Peacock later this year, in September 2023.
