First Trailer for Netflix’s VLADIMIR Reveals Rachel Weisz in a Dangerous Obsession

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming limited series Vladimir, and it looks like a tense, seductive psychological ride.

The show stars Rachel Weisz as a college professor whose carefully built life begins to slip apart when a new colleague arrives and flips her world upside down.

Based on the novel by Julia May Jonas, the eight-episode drama promises tangled emotions, questionable decisions, and a relationship that may be more fantasy than reality.

The preview wastes no time introducing viewers to Weisz’s troubled character. In the opening moments she delivers a brutally honest confession about how she sees herself.

“It’s come to my attention that I’ve just lost the ability to captivate. It’s like my husband, my students even my daughter, my entire personhood…useless.” Right away, the tone is set for a woman who feels invisible and desperate to feel alive again.

That sense of stagnation is shattered when Vladimir, played by Leo Woodall, enters the picture. He’s younger, confident, and impossible for Weisz’s character to ignore.

According to the official series description, “When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life.”

The trailer hints at how quickly the connection between them intensifies. In one moment, Woodall casually admits he “has a thing for crazy girls,” a comment that clearly pulls her even deeper into his orbit.

What begins as curiosity soon grows into something far more complicated. The footage suggests that their relationship may not be entirely grounded in reality, leaving viewers unsure what is actually happening and what exists only in her imagination.

One especially intriguing exchange sees Weisz’s character reaching out to touch Vladimir and says, “Sorry, I just wanted to be sure you were here in the flesh.” He responds, “As opposed to what?” She answers, “Oh, in my dreams.” It’s a perfect example of the uneasy, dreamlike tension the series seems to be aiming for.

Alongside Weisz and Woodall, the cast includes John Slattery, Ellen Robertson, and Jessica Henwick. Additional performers featured in the show are Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones, and Louise Lambert.

Vladimir was written, created, and executive produced by Jonas, adapting her own novel for the screen. Weisz also serves as an executive producer.

Everything about the trailer points to a story focused on obsession, desire, and the messy complications of midlife dissatisfaction. It looks uncomfortable and driven by what is sure to be another powerful performance from Weisz.

Vladimir premieres on Netflix on March 5.
