Amusing First Teaser Trailer for Rob Zombie's THE MUNSTERS
Over the past several months, director Rob Zombie has been sharing lots of behind-the-scenes photos from his upcoming feature film adaptation of The Munsters. It’s actually been a lot of fun watching the film take shape, and now the first trailer has finally arrived, and it looks like Zombie has actually made a really fun flick that I think fans will enjoy! I’m a huge fan of the original Munsters series, and I like what I’m seeing here!
The teaser opens with an amusing recreation of the classic intro from the classic black and white television series. It ends with the characters being brought into the world of color.
Zombie tells Entertainment Weekly: “I knew that if I went in and demanded ‘This movie’s going to be in black and white or forget it!’ we would not be talking about the Munsters right now, because it would have never happened. I guaran-fucking-tee it. But what I did do is I made the colors sort of hyper-real. I noticed when the actors were in their makeup and they were just walking around, getting lunch or whatever, they looked like cartoon characters come to life. They were just so insanely colorful. I was like, I have to light the movie in the same fashion. It really seemed at all times like a live-action cartoon, which was really exciting.”
The film follows a family of benign monsters who relocate from Transylvania to the American suburbs. The cast includes Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Dan Roebuck as Grandpa Munster, along with Doctor Who and Hobbit actor Sylvester McCoy, who is playing Igor, "the faithful servant of the family", Dee Wallace, Elvira actress Cassandra Peterson as a real estate agent, Tomas Boykin as Lily Munster’s werewolf brother, Lester, and Uncle Gilbert is also in the movie.
