First Trailer for THE MANDALORIAN AND GRUGU Teases Epic New STAR WARS Adventure
Lucasfilm has finally dropped the first exciting trailer for next summer’s Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it’s giving fans their first real taste of the next big-screen chapter in the saga, and it looks like it will take fans on another awesome Star Wars adventure!
Directed by Jon Favreau, this movie marks Lucasfilm’s return to theaters after 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. It’s set after the events of The Mandalorian Season 3, where Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, pledged himself to the New Republic as a mercenary-for-hire.
Lucasfilm released the official logline: “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
The trailer doesn’t rely heavily on dialogue, instead letting Ludwig Göransson’s score set the tone. Quick flashes of action show Din and Grogu navigating new threats and unlikely allies.
We get a glimpse of Sigourney Weaver in a mysterious deal sequence, with Grogu predictably trying to swipe her food using the Force. There’s also Grogu rolling with the Babu Frik crew, a massive Hutt making an appearance in an arena, and AT-ATs marching across a snowy ridge.
The movie will also see the return of Star Wars Rebels fan favorite Garazeb “Zeb” Orellios, voiced once again by Steven Blum, after his brief cameo in Season 3 of The Mandalorian.
Weaver joins the galaxy far, far away as a New Republic pilot and officer who acts as Din’s liaison with the young government’s defense forces. This detail was first confirmed at Star Wars Celebration Japan earlier this year.
Rounding out the cast are Jeremy Allen White and Jonny Coyne. Favreau not only directs but also produces alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce.
The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026! Enjoy the trailer! I’m so excited about this movie!
