Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa Won’t Reprise Their Current Roles in the DCU; Momoa in Talks for LOBO in SUPERMAN: LEGACY

According to a new report from Variety, Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot, along with the other Snyderverse stars will not be coming back to reprise their current roles in James Gunn’s and Peter Safran’s DCU.

So, don’t expect to see Momoa back as Aquaman after the upcoming sequel or Gadot back in the role of Wonder Woman. I’m not really surprised as Gunn and Safran have been developing a series of films that don’t involve these versions of the characters.

Once Henry Cavill was out as Superman and Ben Affleck was out as Batman, I wondered what the point was of continuing to bring back the other characters in the DCEU. It didn’t really make much sense. It’s safe to assume that this means Ezra Miller’s The Flash is most likely out of the picture as well.

So it seems like all of that talk about Gadot coming back as Wonder Woman, and Gunn telling her she had “nothing to worry about” regarding Wonder Woman 3, was just all hot air.

Now, just because Momoa and Gadot won’t be back as Aquaman and Wonder Woman doesn’t mean they won’t play other characters. It was pointed out that Momoa has been in talks to play Lobo and the report claims that he could be a part of Gunn’s Superman: Legacy movie coming in 2025.

It seems like the only characters that aren’t affected by these changes are the ones that Gunn has been playing with such as John Cena’s Peacemaker and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller as they have shows in development. I’m sure we’ll see some of the other characters from The Suicide Squad return as well.

Momoa will be back as Aquaman one more time in the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is out on December 20th. You can bet that this news isn’t going to help the box office for this sequel.

What are your thoughts on all of this?
